Everyone I know who loves to travel have all experienced that sinking feeling when you realize you’ve forgotten something on a trip. Not something simple to replace like a toothbrush either. I mean something like going to a beach resort and forgetting your swimsuit, or flip flops. Something that would cost a decent amount at a resort and that you really don’t need another one of. Or worse yet, something like prescription medication.
It has happened to me and my family several times ranging in items such as pajamas, sunglasses, international power adapters, and our daughter’s favorite teddy bear who goes everywhere with us. That last one was an awful trip where I was left sleeping on the sofa bed because our daughter simply would not sleep alone without her bear so she got the king bed with my wife.
So, yes, I am no stranger to the chaos that travel planning and packing can bring. That is why I have created this website. I wanted some way to be able to generate a checklist for packing and I thought why not share it so others might get the benefit? It will be a constant work in progress as I intend to add destination types with specific items suited to that kind of trip. I also added a pre-departure blog and checklist to help with things you may need to take care of before you go. Things like holding your mail, setting light timers, arranging for plant tenders, and making sure all electronics are off and/or unplugged. In addition, I wanted to be able to share tips and tidbits as well as review some products that we have found particularly useful in our travels.
I may create a forum at some point so that others can chime in and I will always look to expand and improve the content here. So, with all of that said, welcome to My Pack Wizard and I hope that you find the website useful and informative and that it can diminish the headache of trying to prepare for your trip.
